April 2007: Kalahari, Northern Cape
In April 2007 Reach4Sight set up a week of clinics at Askham and Andriesvale, both about 200 kilometres north of Upington, and in the tiny hamlet of Welkom some 70 kilometres further north. They also did visual screening at the JJ Adams Primary School in Askham and at Welkom Primary School.

In all, some 400 children and 200 adults received the eye care they deserve, and 130 pairs of spectacles were prescribed. The value of these glasses was more than R70 000, but the patients paid nothing, thanks to sponsorship from Ebony Optical for frames and Hoya Hill Optics for lenses and fitting.
